Artist Statement

Rooted in traditional oil painting techniques, I depict women immersed by water; floating, submerged, refracted through droplets, or mirrored in its shifting surface. Water becomes both subject and metaphor, a vessel for memory, a mirror for the soul, and a force of transformation. I’m drawn to the abstraction of water, the way it distorts, reflects, and conceals, never in the exact same way. Each painting is a completely different experience. Through capturing water’s ever changing properties, I portray stillness amid chaos, and the quiet processing of life’s weight. Each painting is a meditation on vulnerability, an attempt to visualize the internal state of being through motion and light. Whether through intimate portraits or expansive landscapes, I aim to capture stillness, vulnerability, and a sense of longing. I paint to connect with the world around me, the memories that shape us, and create visual poetry illuminating the quiet details of life.
